Thank you to all who attended the Christmas performance at SPLASH! The children were so excited to perform and they all did a great job!
Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 7th. Third graders from Escalona will be performing onstage at SPLASH in La Mirada! Family and friends are invited. The time is to be announced soon.
Be sure to check out the rest of completed California regions postcards under the activities tab. I loved how students worked so diligently to put them all together over a period of 4 weeks. They were instructed to have at least 3 facts about their chosen region. Keyboarding skills were developing as they put their postcards into Keynote slides. Next, they were to draw a picture of their region, as well as search and find photographs from the internet. Copying and pasting them into their presentations were also new skills learned. They tried on transitioning slides. Music was added for a final touch. Way to go, third graders! We had many students participate in the pumpkin contest. Take a look at our fantastic creations!
Students have been given their i-ready passwords to take home. Please take advantage of this great program to improve reading and math!
What a great time we had at the jogathon! We earned lots of money for our school in an exciting way. An extra special thanks goes to our very own room mom, Michele Vega, for heading this event. Other parents were also helpful to keep everything running smoothly. Way to go all! See our videos under the activities pull down bar.
It was a pleasure meeting all of the parents. It is going to be a fantastic year!

We have had a few guest visits from former student, Julie, who was kind enough to share her talents with our class this year. She may have even inspired a couple of our boys to invent the Bunny Hop! We have been doing an author study on Patricia Polacco. We wrote her letters a few weeks ago. We received a letter to our class! She is an incredibly gifted writer who has many learning disabilities (dyslexia, dysnumeria, dysgraphia and failure of sensory integration. She did not even learn to read until she was 14 years old! Despite this, she has now written over 55 books, many about her life experiences. We admire your determination and encouragement, Patricia!!!
Congratulations to us! Our dvd of the opera styles was submitted and we were selected to receive an award onstage at the Cerritos Performing Arts. It will be held this Sunday, May 19th at 3 PM. Already, 83 students, friends, and family members have responded that they will be attending. I can't wait to see you there! Students will be sitting with me, while family and friends will sit behind us in another section. Light refreshments will be served. Let's be there on time. Thank you all for your support.
